Geocache Description:

N. Lake Washington Blvd.

The “12th man” term has been used by various American football teams. The presence of fans can have a profound effect on the outcome of a game. Loud crowd noise distracts and confuses opponents and sometimes pursuades a referee to make a favorable decision.

Among teams using the “12th man” concept is the NFL’s Seattle Seahawks whose headquarters and practice fields are located in the structure to the north of the cache, The building, the Virginia Mason Athletic Center, is located on one of three parcels of land that comprises Port Quendall, on Lake Washington. The area once was home to a sawmill, coal tar refinery, and creosote plant that once contaminated the land.

Please search for this cache during daylight hours.

Parking is limited. Two areas are suggested along Lake Washington Blvd.N. Be sure to park on the gravel since the edge of the roadway is marked as a bike lane.

Note: Benchmark SY0162 is south of this cache, easy walking distance. Benchmark SY0163 is north of here along Ripley Lane.

Cache update September 23, 2012. So far the attempt at a whimsical theme cache is not working out. The cache has totally disappeared twice so I am forced to change the size and location. It contained Seahawk stuff while it lasted but now is just a green bison tube with log.
