Geocache Description:

Park at the Mickinnick Trailhead on Woodland Drive. The coordiantes are N 48° 18.637 and W 116° 34.078. The cache is located a tad under a third of a mile (as the crow flies) from the end of the trail.

While doing the GreenHorn Mountain Cache (GCR33F) and Brooke’s huckleberry birthday cache (GCQ28A), I couldn’t help but notice the high ground that stands just to the northwest at the end of the trail. Curiosity got the best of me. I thought, “That peak is just begging for a Geocache. Why not!” So I did, and the cache and its name were born… Only a third of a mile and 300 more feet of elevation gain put me on top. Actually, you are going to meander considerably more than a third of a mile unless you can fly, and the cache isn’t precisely on top but very close at 4576 feet.

This is off the trail Geocaching at its best. You will definitely get that above-the-clouds feeling when you make it to this one. Read the lay of the land and notice how all those woodland critters make it up and down the mountain without a nicely groomed trail. I also suggest checking out a Topo map of the area. You don’t need to be a rock climber, but you do need to be comfortable scrambling over rock that sometimes is covered in moss. Keep in mind that there is an easy route to the top and there is an impossible route to the top. Be smart about how you attack this one and take plenty of water. Also, don’t forget to stop, turn, and enjoy the terrific scenery as you go up...up..up.up. Above all, be safe…
