Amid all the heavy traffic of the Hulen Mall shopping plaza, sits a tranquil island of calm and quiet, within view of Hulen Street itself. Please walk awhile in this garden and enjoy it's beauty. All of the plants in this garden are native to this area of Texas and are drought tolerant. One of the focal points behind one bench is a tree named Eve’s Necklace, Sophora affinis. Spring brings beautiful foliage and large drooping clusters of pink flowers. It gets its name from the strings of seed pods that form in spring then gradually mature to tough leathery black beads in the fall. Note: Seeds are poisonous to humans. Near the center circle path is a mailbox with information about the North Central Texas native plants – feel free to take one. The garden is maintained by volunteers of the Tarrant County Master Gardeners, Cross Timbers Master Naturalists, and the North Central Texas Native Plant Society. The cache is a small tube filled with small items for trade. Please replace it exactly as found . Despite being right near heavy traffic, this location is usually very secluded and quiet. A special ‘Thank You!’ to odysseus2000 for previous maintenance of a cache in this garden since 2006. Congratulations to TerraViators the First-to-Find!
