Kissing Sacramento's Blarney Stone Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Krypton: As there's been no cache to find for months, I'm archiving it to keep it from continually showing up in search lists, and to prevent it from blocking other cache placements. If you wish to repair/replace the cache sometime in the future, just contact us (by email), and assuming it meets the guidelines, we'll be happy to unarchive it.

Geocache Description:

Aku Aku

The man honored on this monument was a great visionary. He began construction of California's first passenger railroad, the Sacramento Valley Railroad, which was completed as far as Folsom -- a distance of 22 miles -- in 1856. He also discovered the most practical pass through the Sierra Nevada. We use that pass even today. The railroad is still run along the exact same route he charted. He was a man of great vision and enthusiasm. His name and a little about him are posted on the stone.

This statue in his honor has been here since 1930. If you look close, it looks as if he is ready to kiss someone. There is a reason for that.

Kootie Kollector
If you walk a few steps to either side of the monument, you will see that it looks like one of those giant statues from Easter Island. It fact, I think it is. It is the once famous Aku Aku Kissing Stone of Easter Island. It was known for its romantic influences on anyone that gets near it. The natives moved it off Easter Island because it was adding to their overpopulation problem. They secretly stowed it on Captain Cook's ship and no one ever heard of it again, until now.

If you want to improve your love life... it's simple...just kiss the stone. When you finish, no one can blame you for kissing anyone near you. The more you kiss the stone, and others, the more attractive you become to everyone. Don't forget the man on the stone... He's not sitting there all puckered up for nothing. Feel free to post in the logs, photos of you kissing the stone and/or the man on the stone.

Now.... what else is there?..Oh, yes. The cache!!

It is hidden somewhere in the kissing stone. It originally contained:
Two lizards
One keychain
One Logbook
One Geocaching Note
Please bring your own pen.

Kissing the cache is not necessary.

SLURP ALERT: It has a super strong affect on geo-caching dogs.
