This is a very popular part of Saltburn especially in the Summer months. It features the Band Stand where regular concerts are held on a Sunday afternoon in the tourist season. It is the result of fundraising and campaigning by the Saltburn 500 Club. It was designed by a local architect, Peter Fenton, in 1997 and replaced the bandstand in the Valley Gardens which was destroyed by a bomb during the Second World War.
The new sculpture in front of it depicts a Victorian family with traditional costumes and props and was created by sculptor Emma Stothard from Whitby. The figures are made of wire woven round a metal frame before being galvanised. With its accompanying garden, it certainly makes the area more picturesque and provides a great photo shoot.
