Palmers Brewery is sited just below the confluence of the Asker and Brit rivers. If you're doing this as a solo cache, Morrison's car park is opposite the brewery about 400m walking distance from it.
In 1794 the Gundry family, rope and net makers, built the Old Brewery on the banks of the River Brit. In the late 19th century two Palmers brothers, John Cleeves and Robert Henry, bought the brewery and gave it their names: JC & RH Palmer. Today, Palmers Brewery remains a well-known independent brewer. Externally, it has changed little in over a century. It is still partly thatched and the water wheel, forged in 1879 at a Bridport foundry, still turns. You can also see the high stone archway, built for use by horse-drawn brewery drays which delivered Palmers ales until the 1950s. This cache is on the walking route from Bridport to West Bay across the fields on Monarch's Way. It's a popular path and, on a nice day, a splendid open stroll. The cache is head height in the hollow of a branch junction - reach and retrieve. Tweezers will be useful to extract the log roll.
