Geocache Description:

The Gourmet Geocaching Series recognises the "fuel" that keeps us running, hiking, climbing and wandering about in circles. Some of us like a good food break while caching .................... while others will just stuff something in as they continue hunting!

Apple ...

  • Apple are members of the rose family. Apple trees are 4 or 5 years old before they actually have apples. The first apple tree in the United States was planted by the pilgrims when they came to the United States from Europe. It takes about 36 apples to make 1 gallon of apple cider.
  • The science of apple growing is called pomology. Most apples are still picked by hand. Apples come in all shades of red, green and yellow. Apples are a member of the rose family of plants, along with pears, peaches, plums and cherries.
  • The largest apple ever picked weighed three pounds, two ounces. Apples float because 25% of their volume is air. The average person eats 65 apples per year. One medium apple contains about 80 calories. The Celtic word for apple is abhall. The word apple comes from the Old English aeppel.

The cache is a small sized scew topped cammo container. It contains a logbook with stashnote, pencil and sharpener, and a number of small swaps.
