Geocache Description:

This hide  is along the high sandstone ridge (hogback) between Alkali Creek TH and the Ft. Meade Road. I’ve named them after three prominent women who played a variety of roles in the early days of the Black Hills.

* Sarah “Aunt Sally” Campbell arrived with the Custer Expedition to the Black Hills in 1874 She was the the first African American woman to come to the Black Hills. She was a cook for the Expedition and later for miners. She died on her ranch in 1887. You can visit her grave in Galena.

* Camping, picnicking, toilets, water and parking are located at the Alkali Creek Campground and Cetennial Trailhead. Horses, hikers and bikes are allow free of charge on the Centennial Trail.  Bushwhacking is NOT advised.  Follow the (mostly) single track C. Trail.
