Geocache Description:

The Township of Kimball's baseball field, today unused and only a memory of the good old days. Back in the day baseball was played every week with practices in between and great fun for the local communities.

This old baseball field has seen better days, but it used to be pretty busy!

Three Iron County Baseball League Games slated Sunday at Upson, Gurney and Montreal to be hosts. Three Iron County baseball league games are scheduled for play Sunday afternoon at Upson, Gurney, and Montreal. Upson will be host to Iron Belt, Gurney will tangle with Saxon, and Montreal will play Kimball. Mercer has the bye this Sunday. Team managers are hoping for a break in the weather which will permit them to play their first Sunday games of the 1951 campaign. Contests that were scheduled for play on the last two Sundays were rained out, but the clubs were able to get the league's second season underway by playing off three of the postponed tilts on Memorial Day. Kimball, which finished as runner-up to Saxon in the championship race last year, is still waiting to make its first league start of the season. It had the bye for the opening day and its game with Gurney last Sunday was rained out. Plans have been made to play off the postponed tilt with Gurney at the Kimball field next Thursday evening, June 14. Montreal is expected to give Kimball plenty of opposition in the game tomorrow.
