Not only does May 2000 mark the start of geocaching. Actually a few other things happened (even though they are not of the same "dignity" as the birth of our fabulous hobby). E.g. a tragic explosion occurred in a depot for fireworks and 23 persons lost their lives and 947 were injured. Where did this happen?
