Geocache Description:

Cache is a Micro, not a film canister. This should be fairly simple to find, no room in cache for anything but logbook. Watch out for fishing muggles and high speed vehicles. Bring your own pen!

You will find the guardrail has barbed wire across the top....be careful!!! This barbed wire is being used by wildlife groups to track animal crossing habits. At times, you will see workers walking along the miles and miles of canals looking for clumps of animal hair (Bear or deer & such) that indicates where the animal crossing activity is highest. We believe this is in preparation for road widening projects, as this road is eventually supposed to be turned into a 4 lane highway.

Near this area, there is an alligator that can be seen upon occasion. I've even seen a stranded porpoise. There is a parking area not far away... I would recommend using it! You have to cross the road from the parking, so be careful! You could even catch a kayak tour from near here if you've made arrangements in advance. There is a nature trail too, named for some distant relatives of mine, so feel free to take the walk! Be sure to post a pic of the Gator if you see it!

UPDATED* 6/16/07 I have captured the elusive gator on film during a trip by...however, I know there is more than one gator that hangs out in this spot. I found him about 1/4 mile east of the cache this time.

UPDATE*** 4/11/11 The gator continues to hang out a little farther east on the highway...and was talked about on a local news channel. (visit link)
