Geocache Description:

A short easy walk through woodland will take you to the tunnel.

This Cache is hidden right above the south portal works of the long awaited Hindhead tunnel which is due to open in the summer of 2011.

From Hindhead the cache is about a 15min walk

It's an Ammo Box

There is several parking options at Hindhead including the National Trust Car park at N51 06.865 W 000 43.747
This car park has the National Trust Cafe, which is good for a cup of tea before or after finding the cache.

Its also worth the extra walk to the Mad Moles at the North Cache N 51° 07.127 W 000° 42.950 (above the north portal works)if you have time for a longer walk.

From the Cache you can see the official south viewing platform across the earthworks at N51° 06.540 W000° 44.280, well worth the walk round, it can be reached by walking to the Hindhead Crossroads and heading south on the footpath next to A3 for approx 500m to a footpath (Miss James Walk) which leads you to the platform.

Please post pictures of the work as it happens at the south portal, from the cache location and the nearby viewing platform.

26/02/09 Was breakthrough day when the digging from both ends result in finally meeting in the middle.
