J&J1 -Lakeland Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

New York Admin: Thanks vizsla1 for maintaining another cachers cache. To bad JMBella hasn't logged in to enable his cache page. Reviewers do not enable cache pages, cache owners must log onto the site to do that. Anything less and the cache is abandoned.

Not having logged onto the website to enable his cache page tells me the cache has been abandoned by the cache owner leaving my no option but to archive it.

My best suggestion now is vizsla1 as long as you have replaced the original cache you should submit an all new cache of your own here.

Geocache Description:

Alternate entrance and IMO a better one is on the north side of Vets Hwy (454). From there is a nice short hike on the Greenbelt Trail. Stay with white blazes right to the cache site. Lakeland Park. Enter off Johnson ave. which is off of Old Nichols rd. Exit 58 LIE. (go south)

Our first cache. Snow on the ground so tough to find a good spot. This is a nice little park with boardwalks that connects to Connetquot preserve as you head south. The area is pretty heavily wooded so GPS signal not as accurate as usual, around 30' when we hid cache. You may need the clue especially after all the leaves are back in the spring. Cache is: Water tight container w/ 4" opening top. Contains: Log book, pen, small binoculars, badminton birdie,80 colones from Bonaire, lucite bookmark, Jimmy Buffet and the Coral Reefer Band guitar pick, 2 plastic head bands, windup stuffed mouse, silly putty, windup robot trinket, santa ornament, rock pencil,2 candles. Also a picture of an Alien mistakely taken from Long Island dinosaur (Jill thought it was the traveler) that needs to be returned to his home. Note: In warmer months wear deep woods Off to keep away any deer (lyme) ticks.

UPDATE: DEC. 28, 2004. visited the cache today and replaced the container. It's now a medeum Rubbermaid painted green. The logbook is still in fine condition so I was still able to use it. Some of the trade item were also ok so I added thme to the new cache, including one of the original items, The Pink badminton birdie. I also raised the terrain level and adjusted the coords a bit.
