This cache used to be a little "closer" to home than it is now, but
I needed to replant it further away because some neighborhood
geomuggle juveniles decided it would be fun to plunder my cache!
In the process of placing it an adequate distance away from the
hoodlums, I was able to find another slice of "urban wilderness"
that fit the description of the cache the first time around. But,
as an enticement for folks to visit it now, maybe re-visit it, I've
placed it in a location with a great view!
It became clear to me since I moved the cache to its current
location in January 2005 that the description doesn't adequately
identify the proper approach. There is NO NEED TO BUSHWHACK TO
REACH THIS CACHE. There is a very clear and easily-visible jeep
road that will take you to within 50 feet of the cache.
On a clear day, you should be able to see a vast majority of
Salinas, and the grand Fremont Peak towering over the northern
Salinas Valley. If you want to store the coordinates for Fremont
Peak, they are: 36*45.430'N x 121*30.250'W. The peak is located
exactly 16.64 air miles away.
I was able to get back the log book from the original cache, and
it is located in an ammo box, hidden decently. You'll enjoy the fun
more if you try to find the cache without using the hints, so give
it a good try!
PLEASE DO NOT DRIVE YOUR VEHICLE OFF-ROAD TO REACH THIS
CACHE. YOU COULD BE TICKETED BY THE POLICE. LEAVE YOUR VEHICLE ON
THE PAVEMENT!!!!!
Enjoy!
