Noodling Series #3
Little Soft Maple Creek, in the Soft Maple and Hay Creeks Watershed, is a 8.04 mile river that falls in Rusk County. This river is a Class II Trout Water under the Fisheries Program. This river is managed for fishing and swimming and is currently not considered impaired.
Noodling is fishing for catfish using only bare hands, practiced primarily in the southern United States. The noodler places his hand inside a discovered catfish hole.
The term "noodling", although today used primarily towards the capture of flathead catfish, can and has been applied to all hand fishing methods, regardless of the method or species of fish sought.
This cache will take some time and it is less noodling and more like spelunking. The terrain on this cache is not bad. I recommend shoes or waders. I had this cache set and then after some thought I modified a nano container to make sure the cache will stay in place before publishing it. Even knowing what I was looking for it took me a couple glances around to find the right spot and instead of wading shoes to replace the cache with the new modified one I wore aqua socks. They worked fine but I definitely do not recommend them . I was hoping to make this cache a 5/5 but that would be a stretch. You do not need a flashlight but it may help.
