Geocache Description:

Short but nice wooded park/trail straddling the Mt. Vernon/Bronxville border. Part of the "Diamond in the Rough" series of little-known stretches of urban "wilderness".

Link: (visit link)

Ironically, this land was originally "preserved" in the late 1920's to serve as a right of way for the then being constructed Cross County Parkway, but when the design was moved about 1/4-1/2 mile south, it was still protected from future development:

Our team founder "Ha" discovered this place with his bike on a beautiful after-school afternoon way back in the late 1970's and came back often; it hasn't changed much at all. In terms of the cache series, technically this area is much more "suburban" than "urban", but the idea is to see this surprising "other side" of Mt. Vernon that greatly defies its stereotype as a highly urbanized extension of the Bronx (here it looks and feels a LOT more like Bronxville than the Bronx, even outside the park).

Container is a small clear ccntainer (about the size of a pill bottle).

Enjoy and have fun! There are 2 entrances we suggest, you can either enter via Gramatan Ave. up by the Mt. Vernon/Bronxville border, or via Central Parkway in far northern Mt. Vernon, which will provide a longer but nice walk.
