Geocache Description:

Ocklawahaboy's Riverboat Rally Part 5...

...Parts Unexplored

This year we are heading to a section of the river that I have yet to explore. We'll meet up at the Hwy 19 boat ramp (see waypoint) at 8:30 am to spash our craft. This location is a paved, but steep, boat ramp. The river is usually easily traveled by any craft under 25'. The current varies depending on rainfall but it is generally an easy paddle. We'll head upstream through the maze of channels that make up this section of river. There will be some fun stops along the way then on to ground zero for some brunch. Official event time is 10:00am - 11:00am but I will be around ground zero for probably an hour each side of that.
This year's event is at the historic Davenport Landing. This site features the remains of a native american burial ground and was an important early settlement and steamboat landing. There are also some very informative displays for you history buffs. If you don't have a watercraft of any type, just head toward the Davenport Landing trailhead, (see waypoint) park and walk the well-maintained path .2 miles to ground zero.
