"The Far Side"- Victoria Traditional Geocache

This cache has been archived.

Lyn Pat and Nathan: Here we go.....Time to archive this one. Its been out of bounds for a while due to regulations and needed to be collected and a new one placed further away from the catchment zone. We have had a bit of a scout around and thee are good options that will be interesting when we get out to make a new cache. Thanks Mal for the "flying W" trick on your bike. Glad it wasnt me as it looked painful and spectacular all at the same time.

Geocache Description:

look at your Street directory before you go out to get this one it will make it much easier

I was looking at the UBD maps of Perth the other day and wondered what would be the most remote part of the city. We have over 1 million People here now and where would you go to get away from it all. So after 30 minutes or so I decided it would have to be this location. I could have made it harder but I will keep that idea as a future unique cache because it looks like it would have a nice view of the city. To place this cache I decided to ride my bike in as Lyn decided it was too much of a walk for her. I chose to park near the end of Douglas Road but there are other choices too (I considered this location safer for the car). The return Journey is 6km if you ride its almost downhill all the way but that means you have to partly push your bike back unless you like to ride in hills. The terrain is only 1 star with about 100 metres height change over that distance so it’s not a hard walk/ride and if you take your time you should be able to do it easily. You would think that after going through a couple of locked gates with no cars allowed signs that you would have the place to yourself …but its not to be. I passed a 4wd car ( he seemed lost but happy about being there)and you can see lots of Motorbike activity by the tracks on the ground, even near the cache there were tyre marks so make sure you re-hide the cache well.I have put some nice things into this one so it should be worth a visit. There is even a Geo-coin we collected in Singapore. We know how many people want to log one of these so here is your chance. Also we put in a First Finders certificate which will be only 1 out of 4 in this series. If you like collecting them then you need to try to beat the other very active teams to the loot. Best of luck and we do hope you like the cache. Return time for the trip is about 1 to 2 hours.
