It was a steep hike up to here with a couple of sections of
bushwack. At this point I was feeling pretty good that I had gained
the ridge, thinking the rest of the hike would be a cake walk.
It took some work to get up here, but there was a lot of work
left. Fortunately the bushwack was over, but there was a lot of
elevation left.
If you are up for challenge, continue the loop up to Flat Top
Mountain, then drop down to the road and walk down pole canyon to
the closed gate. The hike took me about 8 hours total. I was at
Flat Top for the sunset, but I do not recommend this. Hiking down
in the dark was tricky, and I was very fortunate to find a good
route most of the way down to the road in the dark.
