[CACHE RETIRED on 02022020 DUE TO NEARBY CONTRUCTION AND FALLEN TREES]
NOTE: Do not go to the listed coordinates! Geocaching can sometimes lead to a need for first aid (minor we hope!).
Although a First Aid course is highly recommended, here are a few tips:
- Calmly assess the situation
- See how the victim responds to questions like “Can I help?”
- Unless immediate evacuation is required, don’t move the victim
- If you must evacuate them, try not to move their head, neck, or spine
- For serious injuries, a bystander should be asked to phone 911
- If it is a choking emergency, perform the Heimlich maneuver
- Look, listen, and feel for breathing difficulties
- Get any foreign objects out of the victim’s mouth
- Check groin, wrist, or neck for a pulse and start CPR if necessary
- Look for any signs of bleeding or shock
- If you find bleeding, control it with direct pressure on the wound
- It also helps to elevate the wound above the level of the heart
- Examine the victim for any fractured bones, and immobilize them
- Prepare for emergencies by taking a first aid course!
Good luck and watch out for poison ivy!
