Geocache Description:

PRESENTS

When is it all happening??

13-14 October 2018

The aim of this weekend is to share tips and tricks with like-minded geocachers.

We hope you enjoy meeting up with old friends and making new ones too.

It's all about fun and socialising, so come along and enjoy!!

Where is it all happening??

Naturalist Community Centre,
21 Dunsborough Lakes Road
DUNSBOROUGH

Registration:
The registration will be from 9am in the main hall. The official opening will not be until later on though, so don't rush to be there at 9 if you have better things to be doing (geocaching around this beautiful region maybe?) This listing will be updated with any changes.

What to expect??:

  • FUN/ FUN/ FUN
  • Geocaching Games
  • Geocaching Information Sessions
  • Beginner FAQ’s and Question Sessions
  • Time to chat and catch up with Geo Friends
  • Searching/Finding techniques
  • Puzzle solving Techniques/ Tips

It will be Spring and the weather should be perfect for caching, but we can't be sure it wont rain a bit over the course of the weekend. Being geocachers, we won't be letting a little bit of water dampen our spirits though. But just to be sure, a suitable venue has been booked for some of the games and information sessions that are being scheduled over the weekend.

This is a FREE event although you will be REQUIRED to wear your team’s NAME TAG to access the event. (Hint: Don't leave it until the last moment to make your name tag as there will probably be prizes awarded for the most creative name tags)

Where to stay??:

Dunsborough and the surrounding district has a myriad of different places to stay, everything from five star luxury to backpackers and campgrounds for you to unroll your swag. You are obviously free to stay anywhere you choose, but we have secured a deal for all Geocachers for WAGB18. If you check out team fratra's pre-event, that particular venue are offering all of us 10% off over the weekend of the event. Just mention "WESTOZ" when you book and they will apply the discount. They have everything from powered sites to fully self-contained cabins so we would love to see you there. And it's just 10 minutes from our event in Dunsborough.

Excited yet??

We are!!

What do you do from here?

Well, you need to plan to be there for starters.

Start talking to family and friends - spread the word.

We had about 250 teams attend the last WA Goes BIG event held in the South West. So of course we are planning on it being as big as that one, if not bigger. Click on the links below to view the listings of previous BIG events. Check out the logs and photos. That should definitely inspire you to get your act together and start making plans.

FYI: Having to work is not an acceptable reason for not coming. You just have to plan some leave time OR swap days off if you work weekends or shiftwork. So once you have minor detail organised, you then need to do a couple more things.

We need you to:

Log on this event page a WILL ATTEND (and if members of your family team have their own geocaching team name, make sure they log their own WILL ATTEND too.)

Your log needs to include the total number of people in your team/family attending. It would be most helpful to us if you could let us know how many Geo-Juniors will be coming too as we are planning lots of activities to keep them entertained.

Join with friends to book accommodation or borrow camping equipment. Book some sort of accommodation, once you know you can make it so you are all sorted and don’t miss out on this great Event. When you log ‘will attend’ you will automatically get any updates from us on the cache page. You don’t need to ‘watch’ the listing unless you want to see who else is planning to come to the event.

Whats On??

Between now and the event, the West Oz Geocaching Event Team will be working feverishly, trying to fit all our ideas into a timetable of the weekend's activities. We envisage some of the tried and true activities that have proved so popular at previous events. But we are also hoping to spice things up a bit with fresh concepts being introduced by newer members of the event team. Updates will be posted on this page, so keep checking to find out what is planned and when.

We have again organized Event Geocoins for you to purchase. Information on the cost and how to order can be found here. The same applies to other merchandise that might become available (event shirts, hats, stubby holders, pathtags, etc).

We will be organising a number of informational presentations that will be beneficial to new cachers and old cachers alike. Come and have a listen as fellow cachers give you some insights and tips and you can ask some of those difficult questions.
