Geocache Description:

I was inspired to do this cache through my career in the newspaper industry. It focuses on local news events that have had an impact on our local area or that have reached readers across the country.

On May 22, 2011, tragedy was to strike a prominent Odessa couple in their home. Dick and Peggy Glover returned home around 4:30 p.m. About 6:15 p.m., a man named James Burwell used Peggy Glover's credit card to purchase some items at Wal-Mart. Burwell had the Glover's Lincoln Navigator and left Odessa for Lubbock.

The next morning, remodelers found the couple dead in their home and immediately called the police. The couple was found brutally stabbed in their nice, upper-middle class home in Odessa.

James Burwell was tracked to a hotel in Lubbock thanks to a GPS installed in the couples Lincoln Navigator. He was arrested without resisting. Burwell would later be convicted and sentenced to three life terms in prison.

To the immediate east of the cache in the alley is a cinder block fence that encloses the Glover's backyard. Just south east of the cache in the alley is a metal door entering a backyard. This is the door Burwell used to enter the Glovers's property. During the investigation, police would find his footprints here in this alley by that door.

Please place this cache back in its spot and be cautious and respectful of neighborhood muggles.
