“If anybody would like to expand to this series please do, I would just ask that you could let Sadexploration know first so he can keep track of the Church numbers and names to avoid duplication. There is also a Church Micro Stats & Information page found via the Bookmark list”
Melbury Abbas is a scattered parish on the road from Shaftesbury to Blandford. The church of St Thomas was rebuilt in 1851 by Sir R G Glyn bart. It is built of stone and comprises a chancel, nave, south aisle, south porch and turreted tower, it seats 300 people and the registers date from 1716. There was a charity given by the Rev. Grove of £4. 4s. to be expended yearly on blankets for the poor This is part of a series of caches which should involve no more than a 30 metre walk and a DT of no more than 2.5. The journey will take you through the beautiful Dorset countryside with some stunning views in places. The series starts near Bere Regis and passes through lots of Dorset villages and even dips into Somerset and Wiltshire for a while. I hope you will enjoy the drive and hopefully see parts of Dorset that you have not seen before. You will need tweezers and I think a map, up to you
