Geocache Description:

This is a quick park and grab along the Golden Highway with a touch of both history and natural history.

PLEASE return the cache to its home and conceal well.

In the 1880’s whilst searching for coal deposits, an underground spring was discovered here.  Since that time drinkable mineral water has been flowing from this bore.  At one point a bottling operation was nearby and the remnants of pipes protruding from the ground are still visible.  In 1948 stainless steel casks were filled with soda water from these springs and taken to Tooth’s Breweries where it was bottled and sold under the label “Blue Bow”.  This spring is now capped.

Way back in the early 1980’s when we arrived in the Central West as new immigrants we discovered the joys of “Dunny Water”, so named as these springs are on the road to Dunedoo, no reference to its taste!  Across the road from GZ is a sty, erected for the public to access the bore and have a taste of its mineral water.  It is best mixed with a splash of lemon cordial on a warm day.

Bring a cup or drink bottle for your own taste of natural mineral water.

FTF:  A unreleased trackable!
