The northwest suburb of Dural is close to the huge metropolis of Sydney, but offers all the qualities of a rural area -- bushland, flower nurseries, horses, scenic views of the Blue Mountains, and much more. This cache is designed to encourage you to drive out for a visit!
The latest -- and probably the last -- in my Quarry Road series of geocaches, this hide features a different concealment approach and is one that will take you a short distance into the bushland behind Dural Park, not far from the tennis courts.
Dural Park may be full of people or may be entirely deserted, depending on the day of the week and the time of day you visit. If the metal barrier gates are closed, you can simply park near the driveway or along Quarry Road and walk in. You'll probably be mistaken for a local taking a stroll near the bush.
On busy days, this cache GZ will lead you away from the crowds, where you can probably search in relative peace. (It's possible to reach GZ at night, but I don't recommend this kind of attempt except by experienced -- or rather mad -- geocachers. But there's no danger around here.)
I've chosen this particular area of bushland because it seems to be a place where little damage can be done by searching and is away from the prying eyes of Dural Park users.
Once you've found the cache, consider driving down to the very end of Quarry Road, where you'll find a fire trail next to a prominent 'Berowra Regional Park' sign. This is the best place for a walk. The fire trail actually eventually leads the Great North Walk.
