WHEN? Saturday 22nd September, 10 am – 12 noon. This event is during the official Cache In Trash Out week.
MEET: By the band stand in Towneley Park, Burnley. Next to the River Calder (BB11 3EN, SD 85173 31964)
WHY? There are large amounts of litter on the banks of the River Calder and the surrounding land in Towneley Park. Not only is it unsightly, but it’s posing a huge threat to our wildlife.
WHO? This event is open to all! However, children under 18 must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
WHAT TO BRING: Bring (clean) wellies or boots and gardening gloves if you have them (a small number of wellies and gloves will be available for those who don’t). All litter picking equipment will be provided. You will be walking on the banks of the river, so please ensure there are no seeds or mud on your footwear that could pollute the area. As it’s the north of England, please come prepared for all weathers with sun cream, insect repellent and waterproof clothing. It is advised that you bring a drink and a snack, however refreshments and biscuits will be provided.
There are plenty of caches within a 5 mile radius of the site, so after you’ve done your good deed for the morning, why not enjoy an afternoon of geocaching?
Please log your visit and the number in your party so we know how many helpers to expect – we wouldn’t want to have a shortage of biscuits!
