Geocache Description:

This is an old nalgene bottle.

IT IS NO LONGER A TWO STAGE CACHE. STAGE ONE KEPT GETTING LOST OR NOT REPLACED CORRECTLY.

I REVISED THIS CACHE 9-14-13.

Please use stealth on this cache. It has been muggled several times. This location is more traditional than the rest, but is still very visible.

This is my first cache. It is not intended to be difficult, but rather educational, interesting, and scenic. The old bridge is one of only seven left in the United States with an aluminum girder system. It is also the longest of only three bridges made with a unique triangle shaped internal support system. During a statewide inventory of bridges in the 1990's, Rita Suffness, the cultural resources manger for the State Highway Administration, determined that the bridge’s unusual structure made it eligible for inclusion in the National Register of Historic Places. The SHA has also created an educational display with descriptions and photographs placed below the bridge along River road. This is well worth the visit. There is much to see and explore along the Patapsco River and in the nearby Town of Sykesville. I have stocked with patches, a compass, a medal, a puzzle, a small carabineer and a small FTF prize.

There is a sign explaining the old bridge at N39.21.716 W07658.018
