Enchanted Trails was originally known as the Hilltop Trading Post which sported huge arrows in the ground, a large stuffed bear, live snakes, free coffee and a burro that wandered the parking lot looking to mooch snacks from weary travelers after the arduous journey up Nine Mile Hill. Mr. Hill and his family operated the trading post through the late 60’s while his brother and family did the same at the Rio Puerco Trading Post six miles west on Route 66 until the early 80’s.
As time marched on and travelers found they didn’t need a trading post every few miles the Hilltop evolved and now enjoys a happy existence caught between modern day life and days gone by.
