Geocache Description:

NEPAG FALL 2018 CITO being held at FRANCES SLOCUM PARK

Every year our DCNR maintained waterways are stocked with big, beautiful trout so people can get out and fish. Unfortunately, so much sudden traffic in the outdoors inevitably means trash is left behind. This Fall we'll have a chance to remove that impact and keep our park lands the pristine hiking terrain we love. But that's not all;

This year we can not only make a terrific impact, but also earn credit for placing caches on DCNR lands controlled from the Frances Slocum Luzerne County Park! DCNR personnel have been advised to either ask for $25/cache to cover the added expenses of maintaining environmental impact, extra trail maintenance from increased foot traffic and 3 years worth of continual monitoring.

The great news is that the Park Managers have also been encouraged to work with Geocachers to exchange hands-on help in exchange for cache placement. NEPAG will earn credit to place geocaches for this CITO event! So, come on out and join us in beautifying NEPA outdoors and everyone wins

NEPAG FALL 2018 CITO participants will have opportunity for two FTF's at the park

1) Cleanup Begins at 9am (rain or shine)and the planned end time is 11:30 am.

2) You can choose to bring your kayak and help clean the lake areas (a group is holding a fishing tournament here on 9/22/18)

3) If anyone has a truck or other vehicle and can help haul our harvest to the dump truck the park is providing, that would be great!

3) We'll meet at the listed parking area where there will be coffee and doughnuts available. There are a few areas we will be concentrating on and will split into groups after meeting at the parking area. (a main area this year is the lakes(shorelines and on the lake)

4) Bags will be provided at the meeting area.

5) Suggest tick spray.

6) Dogs are allowed in the park if on a leash.

Let's get out and make a difference, earn some credit and reward ourselves with new caches in some of the NEPA land we love! Please bring appropriate clothing; suggestions include water resistant footwear and gloves since areas we'll be concentrating on are both shorelines.
