This tunnel was built in 1917 by the Oregon-Washington Railroad & Navigation company which became the Union Pacific in 1936. This was once the mainline to the large Union Pacific facility in Tekoa, WA and other towns in the Palouse. There is little that remains of the Tekoa yard and the tracks have been removed. This line is still used by the Union Pacific Railroad but only sees a few trains a week to Plummer, Rockford, and Fairfield.

The STAR Challenge will take geocachers on an adventure, finding caches in places significant to railroads past and present.
