Long Distance Team Caching:(Tallahassee/Atlanta) Mystery Cache

This cache has been archived.

talk2azs: Sadly I must say goodbye to this one and it's sister cache in Atlanta. Since it appears that the Tallahassee geocaching population has dwindled to lower numbers and continues to spiral downward, keeping this cache running is no longer feasible.

Thanks to all that have hunted it.

Geocache Description:

This cache was inspired by a cache in the Atlanta area called "Long Distance Call - Southern Style"(GCZ1D9). Since the species of technology used in that cache is rapidly becoming extinct, the method of retrieving the information needed is becoming obsolete. But to this day that cache is still in operation. So I have come up with a new and different twist.

CONGRATULATIONS TO Sean J. Allen FOR FINDING BOTH CACHES SOLO!

There is an easy way and two hard ways to complete this cache hunt. One of the hard ways to complete this cache, is to go to the posted coordinates and write down the 5 digit number located behind the sign. Then visit the sister cache page, GC30H9C, and solve for the final of that cache using the 5 digit number you found at this caches posted coordinates. Drive to Atlanta, visit the posted coordinates of that cache to write down the numbers there, find that cache and drive back to Tallahassee and find the final of this cache using the 5 digit number you found in Atlanta.

The other hard way is to solve a VERY difficult puzzle by decoding a QR code image that I have uploaded to this cache page. The puzzle contains information to find the final container for this cache. The QR code is the easy part. You have been warned! PLEASE NOTE: I will not provide any hints or help with the puzzle. Sorry....

NOW FOR THE EASY AND INTENDED FUN WAY!!!

The goal for you is to team up with a cache hunter in the Atlanta, Georgia area who has NOT hunted any of these caches previously. Please do not contact a previous hunter of this cache for the information needed to obtain the final cache. It will void the purpose and experience of this cache. SO NO CHEATING PLEASE!!! To obtain the information needed, please read on.

I have created 2 sister caches. One of which is this one, here in Tallahassee, and the other is located up in the Atlanta, Georgia area.(GC30H9C) At the posted coordinates of the Atlanta cache is a 5 digit number, ABCDE, located on the back side and on a guard rail. You will need that 5 digit number in order to figure out the final location of this cache. Your Atlanta teammate will give you the information in exchange for the 5 digit number located on the back side of a sign located at the posted coordinates of this cache page.

First you need to contact an Atlanta cacher who has NOT hunted any of these caches previously. You can do this by either posting a note on this cache page, stating that you are looking for an Atlanta cache partner for this cache. BUT YOU MUST DELETE THE CACHE NOTE LOG FROM THE CACHE PAGE ONCE YOU FORM A PARTNERSHIP! OR you can visit the Atlanta cache page by visiting the following link: GC30H9C. Look for someone there that has posted a note stating that they need a cache partner. Contact them through their profile page and then set up the cache hunt together. Please help your new teammate by reminding them to delete the cache note log they posted so they will not be contacted by another person. When you arrive at the posted coordinates of each others caches, exchange the 5 digit numbers via cell phone, e-mail, telepathy, or any other form of communication you can think of. Now that you have the 5 digit number, ABCDE, from the back side of the guard rail at the posted coordinates of the Atlanta cache, do the following calculations to find the final cache container.

THE CACHE IS LOCATED AT:
N30 32.(E)(D)(B+C-A)
W084 13.(C+D)(A+D)(B)

Now go find the final cache.

WHEN YOU POST YOUR FIND LOG, PLEASE INCLUDE WHO YOU PARTNERED UP WITH IN ATLANTA TO FIND THIS CACHE.

If you found the cache by solving the puzzle, just for fun you can e-mail me through my profile with details on how you solved it. Please do not post it in the cache logs.

If you went to Atlanta with the intent of hunting both caches, just for fun you can post that in your log also. Your bonus is getting 2 smileys.

Happy Hunting!
