The Rototuna landfill operated on this site and extending across Tauhara park from 1974 to 1985.
The site now is utilised for a Playground, large park (& dog exercise area) and this famility golf centre with Mini-golf and a Pitch-n Putt course. Many people are curious to the purpose of the structures hidden within the native plantings around the park which allow the gases produced in the landfill to vent out.
An evening stroll around the boundary of the park is a great for geocaching pooch to have a go at chasing down rabbits without bothering golfers.
The best access is from Gilbert Crescent (off Rototuna Road) where there is pedestrian access.
