We Ran Over "The Vault 2.0"! Traditional Geocache

This cache has been archived.

halemeister: Well, this one is gone. It sat out here for more than 9 years before someone else thought they needed a bent up, busted ammo can more than us geocachers did.

Geocache Description:

Poor Toppercat.

He can never seem to win a contest on the Chicago Geocacher Podcast. Even more, he can't seem to catch a break when he places an ammo can in the woods, either. Well, not with me and my clumsiness anyway. Let me explain.

Toppercat is an extremely gifted geocache puzzle creator, and a locksmith. He has constructed a few puzzle contraptions that have become favorites among the caching community. One of them is
The Vault 2.0, which is a replacement for his original cache, The Vault.

One day in late December, I went to go find The Vault 2.0 with OregonThree and it was getting to be dusk outside, so I brought the ammo can back to the vehicle to work on the puzzle while sitting in the warmth. Then we decided to move the car to the entrance to the park so we wouldn't get locked in to the park when the rangers came around to close things up for the night. There was a loud THUMP as we backed out of the parking space. OH NO! I forgot I left the ammo can sitting next to the car! Yep, it got run over. I was very thankful I was holding onto the puzzle contraption when it happened, or else that would have been busted too.

Now days, everything is all better in regards to The Vault 2.0. OregonThree and I paid for a new ammo can and its been replaced. However, I ended up holding onto the original container that we ran over that faitful night. It sat in my garage all winter long. Then I got the idea to make a new  hide with it!

At GZ, you'll find the old, dented and crushed ammo can. The log is inside the pill container since the ammo can is no longer water tight. Please refrain from placing any swag or trackables into the ammo can. The ammo can can be difficult to close, so you'll have to push down on the lid as you close the clasp. Please let me know if you cannot get it closed so I can come check it out.

And for heaven's sake... please don't take the ammo can back to your can and end up running it over again!
