Geocache Description:

BE EXTREMELY CAREFUL WHEN ON GOWER POINT ROAD WHILE DRIVING! CARS COME BY VERY FAST AND THERE IS A VERY STEEP CLIFF NEXT TO THE ROAD! IF IT IS A COLDER TIME OF YEAR, BE CAREFUL OF ICY CONDITIONS ON THE ROAD!

Gospel Rock was created by volcanic intrusion millions of years ago when the Pacific plate began to slide underneath the North American plate, thus having the North American plate bend upwards overtop of the Pacific plate. Volcanic rock from far underground got pushed upwards and formed an igneous rock-type landscape that can be seen on the rock today, as you would see the different type of rock pattern along the rock.

I knew that this area has had plans to be developped, so I thought it would be a good idea to create an EarthCache here before that happens. The rock is a well-known picnic spot, notably because of it's views, so I'd suggest visiting this place before they start putting houses up here. Hopefully that won't happen, but just in case...

I consider this a "park & grab EarthCache".

To have properly "found" this EarthCache, please log the following or your log will be deleted (sorry) :

1. Under your opinion, how would you describe the pattern and colour of the rock on Gospel Rock?
2. Think about the size and shape of Gospel Rock itself. What does it remind you of?

Thank you, and please enjoy the view!

WARNING: The road that goes past Gospel Rock can busy and cars can come around very fast, so please be careful when driving out of the parking space. The parking space is also rather small, so only two cars can fit into it. Remember that.
ANOTHER WARNING: With the presence of arbutus trees around, there may be a possibility of ticks in the area. It would be a good idea to check yourselves for ticks after visiting.
YET ANOTHER WARNING: Two words: STEEP CLIFF!
