Geocache Description:

Malachi 1:5 - You will see it with your own eyes ...

On Saint George's Day 1914, exactly one year before he fell victim to the Aegean mozzie, the Cambridge war poet, Rupert Brooke, bonded with four Oxford history professors on the first leg of their hitchhiking tour of tea (and honey) shops in the Rutland area. They started in the village of Brooke, where the nuns ... those monkeys ... are famous for brewing a predigestive green tea which they sweeten with honey straight from the bee-hive. Here, whilst watching a black cat drinking from the brook that flows to the sea by Philip's farm, Brooke was inspired, being exactly one away from heaven's gate, to write his rhyme "The Song of the Beasts" from which the following is an extract:

Within twelve miles of priory ground,

A moving finger is to be found,

Giving a digit per missing sound.

#TON, #STON, #, #ENDINE, #BROOK

See a place you shouldn't look,

Be sure to check out every nook.

For the darkness whispers a blind desire,

And the fingers of night are a mouse.

Keep close as we speed to

N 52° ##.#(# - 2)6  W (D - 65° 51.#58)

For D is the #####'s declination,

In a beast (killed by segregation,

Immune to odours smelling sweet,

That green and purple pal of Pete),

Labouring after the Nemean moggie,

But only just before the hell doggie.

The rhyme lists the next five places in Rutland that the group visited before they arrived in 'X'TON whilst the ##### was discovered in the same year as the northern most Saint George Island.

The moving finger is cursed and its true form is well disguised, so please don't let the cat out of the bag - whatever that may mean?

The listed co-ordinates are for Brooke Priory but you shouldn't pry there!
