While normally I would have chided Carlfan99 mercilessly for giving up and turning around so quickly, in this case I applaud her.
Enough people venture into the mountains and get into trouble because they keep going past the point they know they shouldn't. They either exceed their abilities because of bravado or ignorance, or haven't planned for the environment they have entered (not bringing enough water seems to be a common mistake).
Probably further up the trail then where Carlfann99 abandoned her first attempt at 'Old Throop', this is not too much further. Depending upon where you park, you are looking at about a quarter of a mile trek to grab the cache and get back to your car.
You are looking for a small camoed cylindrical container 3" diameter by 5" tall. Still haven't found where to get short pens, so you will need to bring your own.
This is well within the means of most people, but there is still a steep little climb with a sharp drop-off. Winter with ice and snow is probably not the best time to try for this one. And of course in summer, be careful where you poke around, something might not take too kindly being poke at and strike back.
