Literally you are down in the dumps in this
location. Just north of the cache site are 3 former
landfills. Edison Township operated their own landfill in this area
until it was closed about 20 years ago. Another closed
landfill site owned by Industrial Land Reclaiming (ILR) provides
power to Middlesex County's wastewater treatment operations from
methane gas recovery. The last closed landfill is the Kin-Buc
landfill which was one of New Jersey’s largest Superfund
sites. Across the river in East Brunswick is the still active
Edgeboro landfill.
When I first saw that the path was being
constructed I originally thought of placing a series of caches here
but was disappointed to find that the path only was about a quarter
of a mile long. Hopefully in the future this path will be extended
for a walk up around the bend (and opportunities for more
caches). Please do not disturb any of the recently placed
bird houses nor is there any reason to go into any fenced off
shrubery. As with all Edison Township parks please observe
the hours of operation (dawn to dusk). Any logs with
references to a find after hours will be deleted by the CO.
Cache is an ammo can originally filled with
some swag, a few TB's and a couple of geocoins. There is a
WG$ for the FTF.
FTF congratulations
