Tämä kätkö vie sinut paikalle, jossa oli vielä 1960-luvulla yksi Rauman kauneimpia rakennuksia.
Arkkitehti Wivi Lönnin piirtämä Rauman Yhteislyseon koulurakennus vihittiin käyttöönsä vuonna 1914. Talon omisti kaupunki aina vuoteen 1928, jolloin se luovutettiin ilmaiseksi valtiolle. Rauman Yhteislyseosta tuli siis valtion koulu.
Sodan jälkeen koulu sai alivuokralaisen. Viipurin tyttölyseo siirtyi saman katon alle. Vuonna 1954 tytöt muuttivat uuteen koulurakennukseen seminaarinmäelle ja poikalyseo jatkoi tässä rakennuksessa.
Vähitellen rakennus kävi kuitenkin vanhaksi ja ahtaaksi ja syksyllä 1969 otettiin käyttöön uusi koulurakennus Aittakarinkadun varrella.
Vanha, 55 vuotta palvellut lyseorakennus purettiin 1972 ja tilalle rakennettiin Sokos-tavaratalo. (Taustakuva ja teksti lainattu www.raumakuvasto.fi)

This cache leads you to the location where in the 1960´s still stood one of the most beautiful buildings in Rauma.
The school building of Rauma secondary school for boys and girls ("Rauman Yhteislyseo") was inaugurated for its use in year 1914 in this location. The building was owned by city of Rauma until 1928 when it was given free of charge to the State of Finland. After Second World War the school got a subtenant; the girls secondary school from Vyborg moved to the same building (because Vyborg became a part of Russia).
Gradually the building became old and too crowded. In autumn 1969 the school moved to a new building. The beautiful old building was torn down in 1972 at the age of 55 years and was replaced by a Sokos department store, which can still be found in the same location.
