This is a virtual cache located near Jed Johnson Dam within the Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge. The walk will take you away from the overused parking and fishing areas and get you to a spot to enjoy the scenery of this beautiful lake.
When constructing the latest incarnation of the Jed Johnson Dam, the United States Fish and Wildlife Service embedded several round metal markers in the dam and surrounding terrain. Each such marker bears a six digit number of the form XXXX.YY. The above listed coordinates will take you to the vicinity of a marker bearing the stamp 1615.YY. To claim your prize you must email me with the last two digits.
One cautionary note: The wildlife in the refuge is WILD! Do not go near buffalo, longhorn cattle, etc. They are an important part of the prairie ecosystem managed by the refuge but they are NOT domesticated animals.
