This cache is one of a series of caches which brings the finder on a stiff hike around and across Slieve Foy. The length of the circular walk affords the finder breathtaking views of the full expanse of Carlingford, the Lough, the Mournes and the rest of the Cooleys and of Dundalk Bay
Slieve Foy, which towers over the medieval village of Carlingford, is the highest point in the Cooley Mountains and indeed in County Louth.
The views at this point are every bit as spectacular as the views are at the summit. From this point it is a straight walk along the ridge to the trig point at the summit. Don't forget to pick up the older cache near the summit when you're this close. The gradient between this cache and the trig point is relatively gentle but you will probably experience very strong winds even on the nicest of days.
The cache is a small tablock box with log only so byop. Please replace the cache and cover exactly as found to protect it from the elements.
As with all caches placed in mountainous areas, always come properly prepared for your day in the hills with proper clothes, boots, map, compass food, etc
Please note also that dogs are not allowed anywhere on the Cooley Mountains (even on leads)
