Maris caught, then surpassed Babe Ruth's famous home run record of
60. In 1961, Maris hit 61 home runs, a Major-League record which
stood until 1998 and still the American-League mark.The two-time
American League MVP (1960-'61) is also considered as one of the
best fielding right fielders in Yankee history.
