This one was inspired by the work of Dar Williams, a singer songwriter from Westchester County, NY a little way north of where I grew up. She’s an incredible writer with a beautiful voice, and also a very nice person. I’ve followed her work for almost 20 years now, and since she’s very accessible I’ve had the chance to meet and talk to her quite a few times. Her very personal lyrics have both brought tears to my eyes and made me laugh out loud on many occasions.
The cache title references a bluesy song of the same name inspired by a trip to New Orleans a few years back, before Hurricane Katrina hit. It’s located above the Rappahannock just off a trail in Clair Brooks Park. You have a good view of the river from the site, especially during the winter months when the trees are bare. It’s stocked to begin with music themed trinkets, but sticking to the theme isn’t necessary. I’ve also included several CDs featuring a mix of Dar’s songs taken from albums recorded throughout her career.
Please respect park hours, and be sure to rehide well.
