Have you ever wondered how McHenry Conservation District gets so many beautiful flowers in their prairies? Would you like to learn about the different flowers that are part of this area? There is a great opportunity to volunteer to help MCCD be able to do some restoration work with collecting seeds off the flowers that many of you have probably seen and walked through while caching for the Cache Your Way Across McHenry County or just having an adventure in a beautiful area. There will be people on hand to teach about the many flowers that you will be handling and about the work you will be completing. The seeds will be put through the seed processing center to be planted by the Natural Resource Management Department. This great effort needs many volunteers to be able to save money to put into other projects that can be completed by MCCD. This is one of the weekends where you can earn a souvenir by attending a CITO which is a great way to encourage cachers to get out and help the areas that we love to visit for our caching pleasure. Please bring gloves to use for this project, a willingness to learn, and a pen since waivers will be signed upon arrival to the site. Be sure to wear long pants since we will be working in the Prairies with the Tall Grass.
