Sand Prairie Wildlife Management Area (WMA) near St. Cloud, MN.
From the junction of Hwys 23 and 10 drive 2.2 miles SE on Hwy 10.
Look for signs to the parking area on the east side of Hwy 10.
700 acres of wild land on the edge of St. Cloud. Bring your
binoculars for wildlife viewing. It's an easy hike, snowshoe or ski
on flat ground. If you don't want to walk the road, head generally
east on the prairie trails. The scenery improves as you get farther
from the highway. The container is an 8" plastic box. The cache
should be accessible year round. There is no fee.
Some people have been concerned about the sirens at the start of
the trail. This is a facility to train police officers in pursuit
techniques. (They get about 300 miles on a set of tires!)
Here are the coordinates as of 22 May 2002: N45 32.584 W94
