FDR by Horse ─ Bat Masterson (Deputy)
hidden by: Joebids and Harborspy

William Barclay "Bat" Masterson (1853 - 1921) was a famous figure of the Old American West. His occupations included: U.S. Marshal and Army scout, sportsman and buffalo hunter, gambler, and frontier lawman.

Later in life, he worked as sports editor and columnist for the New York Morning Telegraph.   His brothers were also lawmen:   James Masterson and Ed Masterson.   Bat was a friend and associate of famous lawman, Wyatt Earp.

Cache Description:
This hide is dedicated to those whom are with chiroptophobia.   No need to get off of your horse here as things are looking up as you near the end of your ride.   Just give a little tug. If it squeals let it go before you hurt it, if it cooperates, then you have just earned your smiley.   Barnabas Collins would be proud of you.

Please be careful when you retrieve and replace the container.

~ Happy Trails!

The difficulty for the Geocaches in this series have been rated with the consideration of you being on a moving horse.

Please be careful when you retrieve, handle and replace the various containers.   If you should drop something to the ground, take direction from your Guide on whom in your group should retrieve the item. Of course this does not apply if you are on your own horse unguided.

This Geocache has been placed with kind permission from FDR State Park Management and is in accordance to agreed standards. It is also on a  designated Horse Trail  where no hiking on them is allowed.  You may bring your own horse or go on a guided ride from Roosevelt Riding Stables.  If you do bring your own horse, you still must register at the Stables office.

The Horse Trails are typically open from Tuesday through Sunday.  Please see their web page for operating days/hours, guidelines and Guided Trail Ride rates.   Roosevelt Riding Stables

NOTE -- There is a $5.00 parking fee per car to enter the State Park.  Of course you can purchase an annual pass which will give you unlimited access to all GA State Parks.
