Geocache Description:

Can you find Squirrel's stash of treasure in this nature area near the Yakima River?
Flood waters have washed away most of the trails but it is still accessible with a short hike from the parking area.

There once was a gray squirrel who was fascinated with the small colorful things that humans carry around and sometimes leave behind. He lived near a park and would watch them from the treetops. When something interesting was left behind, he’d scamper down and collect it. However his mate wouldn’t let him keep his treasures in their home so, he had a special box on a hollow log where he kept his treasure.
However one day, a groundhog decided he wanted to make the hollow log his new home, so he kicked out the treasure box to make more space. The box landed in the loose soil near the Yakima River where it sat until the flood waters rose and carried it downriver. The salmon and turtles who saw it were curious but avoided it. It floated along till an eagle snatched it out of the water. He flew up to a tree branch to inspect his find but was disappointed there wasn’t any food. So he left it in the tree and flew away.
Squirrel’s loss is your gain. Take a walk around this little nature area near the Yakima River and hope you can find the Secret Stash of Stuff
