See waypoint for parking/trailhead coordinates. Park on the North Side of Route 224. Follow blazed trail starting near the road edge. The white trail blazes have faded over the years, but are still present.
Enjoy a hike northerly through the woods to the Mattawoman Creek. Head east towards the cache's namesake rusting in the water. Keep an eye out for brambles and bugs. Don't bushwhack too soon! There is heavy undergrowth near the cache site and the trail may be hard to follow. The cache is stashed off of the trail in a small ammo can. There is no need to climb up on or over anything at ground zero. If you're making a waterborne attempt, a recommended launch point is Mattingly Park in Indian Head.
