This cache and the other close by Kira’s Multicache has been made and placed by me as part of my Scout Geocaching badge (in 2014) and I am part of 1st Bloxham Scout Troop.  http://members.scouts.org.uk/supportresources/4211/geocaching-activity-badge

As well as this cache & Kira’s Multicache, there are two of my other Geocaches in the village so look up:

GC378JC – Kira’s Cache   &

GC360FP – LEtsGO Geocaching

Please be very careful to put Kes back in it’s position carefully and hide the evidence in the bag.

The Common Kestrel (Falco tinnunculus)

Kestrels are most easily distinguished by their typical hunting behaviour which is to hover at a height of around 10–20 metres (33–66 ft) over open country and swoop down on prey, usually small mammals, lizards or large insects.  Kestrels can fly in stationary air, even indoors in barns.  Unusually for falcons, plumage often differs between male and female, although the female is slightly larger than the male. This allows a pair to fill different feeding niches over their home range. Kestrels are bold and have adapted well to human encroachment, nesting in buildings and hunting by major roads. Kestrels do not build their own nests, but use nests built by other species.

Kes is a 1969 drama film directed by Ken Loach and produced by Tony Garnett. The film is based on the 1968 novel A Kestrel for a Knave, written by the Barnsley-born author Barry Hines.  The story is a sad depressing one of 15-year-old Billy Casper who is bulled by his brother, gets into trouble at school and finds some relief in training a young Kestrel.  Sadly there is no happy ending to the story.
