This is one of a four-cache series along the blue trail on Illinois Mountain in Lloyd, NY. The four caches are:
Illinois Mountain Blue - Bearing (GC5524C)
Illinois Mountain Blue - Range (GC55271)
Illinois Mountain Blue - Base (GC5528Z)
Illinois Mountain Blue - Bonus (GC552A2)
To locate the bonus, you must project a waypoint derived from information collected from each of the other three caches. This cache supplies the range (in meters) to be used in the projection. The container is a medium-sized lock 'n' lock just off the trail.
There are several trail maps of the area available online, one of which is on the Scenic Hudson website. Parking is available at Berian Park. See GC5524C for parking and other waypoints. To reach and circumnavigate the blue trail from the parking waypoint and then return the way you came is a moderate hike of about 4.6 miles, easily accomplished in about 2½ hours. You are of course free to pursue this set of caches in any order you please, but you will find it most efficient to start at the blue trailhead (see GC5524C) and hike the entire trail clockwise, proceeding from Bearing to Range to Base to Bonus.
