Geocache Description:

A quick C&D on the edge of Weedon Bec

This cache is placed at the entrance to Cavalry Hill.

Some facts about the Cavalry......

1. Cavalry horses were (and still are) classed as military equipment, and as such each one has a serial number which is engraved on one of it's hooves.

2. If a hourse was injured or killed in battle the soldier who was riding it would have to take the engraved hoof back to the Quatermaster's department before he was issued another horse.

3. The Household Cavalry has 2 shire horses which are used as drum horses. the rider has no reins and uses their knees to control the horse.

4. The shire horses are not allowed to and have never been taught to canter or gallop (makes sense if you don't have reins)

5. Every year the cavalry horses from london get a 2 week holiday in Norfolk

6. The rest of the Army generally call the cavalry "donkey wallopers"
